It was at OPW WrestleWave in January that Jesse Love shocked the Australian wrestling world by defeating Edward Dusk to claim the vacant OPW Heavyweight Championship.

But perhaps people shouldn’t be that shocked? The Queenslander has been a mainstay of promotions like UPW and IPW, and he’s no stranger to holding gold with his title reigns reaching into the double figures. Jacked, confident and extremely capable, he’s come down south to really show the Melbourne audiences what he’s all about.

Put simply, he’s got the skills and the knowledge to go toe-to-toe with anyone.

But at Sunday Showdown, he’s facing someone for the first time, that the MCW Faithful is very familiar with.

2025 was a frustrating year for Lucas Fantasia in MCW, he spent most of it as Lucky O’Leary’s unwilling personal assistant. Now free of his clutches, he’s determined to make this year a much better one for him, and what better way than by getting some gold around his waist?

He’s had title opportunities before in MCW – notably against Robbie Thorpe for the Intercommonwealth belt, and even a shot at the Tag Team titles, but he’s come up short each time.

However with a new sense of freedom, the support of the MCW Faithful and his own considerable talents, this could be the chance he’s waiting for.
